How to Use yahoo with outlook 2007 for free

Step 1: Download YPOPs
You need to download a small application called YPOPs. YPOPs is an application that provides POP3 and SMTP access to Yahoo! Mail. YPOPs acts as a gateway between Yahoo! Mail and Microsoft Outlook. For those who opted for the new Yahoo Mail beta are good too to use this to access Yahoo! mail using Outlook. Download YPOPs from SourceForge.

Step 2: Install YPOPs.
When configuring YPOPs, while the default settings are pretty good, I like to customize them a bit.
* In Receiving Email, under download Email Category, I choose to select just Unread email to download so that I won’t download all the hundreds of emails I have.
* In Sending Email, I check Save email in Yahoo’s Sent Items Folder
* In Miscellaneous, it is good to check Automatically start YPOPs! when Windows starts so that you don’t have to worry about launching it everytime you launch Microsoft Outlook.
Step 3: Configure Microsoft Outlook to access Yahoo! Mail
* For Microsoft Outlook 2003, Go to Tools –> Email Accounts. Select Add a new email account. Click Next. Check POP3 and click on Next
* For Microsoft Outlook 2007, go to Tools –> Account Settings and under Email click New… Under Add a new Email Account select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP. Then under Add new Email account, check Manually configure server settings or additional server types
* Type your name under Your Name
* Type in your Yahoo! Mail address under Email Address which is the full youremail@yahoo.com
* Under Incoming mail server (POP3) type in localhost. (If localhost does not work type in 127.0.0.1 instead)
* Under Outgoing mail server (SMTP) type in localhost. (If localhost does not work type in 127.0.0.1 instead)
* Under Username type in your Yahoo! Mail address. For example if your email address is priyeshpcs@yahoo.com, then type in priyeshpcs. Enter your Yahoo! Mail password and check remember the password
* Click More settings. Under Outgoing Server tab check My outgoing server(SMTP) requires authentication
* Click OK and then Next and then click Finish
That’s it now you can access yahoo mail through MS outlook

Yes one more thing we can do but it is only for outlook 2007 or below not 2010
go to control panel
then chose windows firewall
then go to advance then click on first setting and in services select the POP3 and SMPT
this will work

This does not work! You will always get an error 554 and no mail will be download despite of having emails in your webmail inbox!!!

Tried this on the older versions of outlook, and it was great. It's not working for 2007, for me at least.

try chkin wheather u typed yr passwurd right..cuz i had da same prob as urz...it wurjed for me..and also try 127.0.0.1 on incoming and outgoing instead of localhost...ezz bro

keep trying frnds the server name then you will get the perfect match of outgoin and incoming server
if your email account is new then it will make some problem
restart outlook and then try again
my perfect match is
incoming server 127.0.0.1
outgoing server 127.0.0.1

It doesn't work for me. It keeps trying to log in to yahoo, analyzes yahoo inbox, then prompts for password again with domain 127.0.0.1, user name as my yahoo name and asks for password. providing password and clicking OK repeats the process in 10 seconds.

How to send receive emails in Outlook 2007 from my yahoo account ? I have installed Ypops and configured it and first time it downloaded my emails and i sent emails and it was working fine but now suddenly it has stopped working. Outlook give the following error when sending & recv email from yahoo account:"Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. Has anyone tried to download YPOPs recently?
I tried (several times) for the first time today and all the site downloads seem to be contaminated or something. http://ypopsemail.com totally redirects the page when I click "Download", another gives a 404 error message, etc.

Hey Guys!! refer the below link. You have to enter the incming and outgoing mail serverz accd to your location. This should set you free.
That doesn't work Martin. I suspect that is just setting up Outlook as you would indepedently of YPops. I'm having the same problem previous users were having. And Mark's solution doesn't connect you to Yahoo!

Well! You could have said earlier on, like maybe in THE INSTRUCTIONS!, that it doesn't work with VISTA & WINDOWS 7!
I've been trying & trying to work this out, but still can't get it to work; now I know why! Running VISTA Business 64 bit, Microsoft Office 2007.
Priyeshpc, or anyone: Do you know if there is a patch/fix to use this on VISTA & Win7? Does it matter whether you have 32 or 64 bit?

I'm at a loss-- have tried a whole variety of suggestions and am getting nowhere. One of the most persistent problems is the prompt to re-enter the network password. It won't go away until I cancel the test emails.

Remember to set up the Yahoo account to allow pop3 forwarding before you do any of the above. No websites seem to mention this. I set up the forwarding (go to more settings, then pop & forwarding)

Yeah it works flawlessly, but keep it in mind that yahoo officially doesn't allow using their e mail configured with e mail clients. Doing this way can lead termination of your yahoo account and will not be accessible anymore. I had people saying that it happened to them and personally me as well.
as DanH said, remember that you need to allow pop forwarding in your yahoo mail settings. Just taken me a while to realise this! Works now. Windows 7, Office 2007, not mail plus, using yahoo settings, not using ypops.

I have followed every step in the article and am still having trouble accessing my yahoo mail in Outlook 2007. I get the YPOPs! Yahoo Error message: "Invalid ID or password. Please re-type your username (without @yahoo.com) and password in your email program - under account setup." ive tried all different types of username combinations (with and without the "@yahoo.com") ive also tried Incoming mail server (POP3): localhost and 127.0.0.1 and Outgoing mail server (SMTP): localhost and 127.0.0.1. Are there other settings in YPOPs that i am overlooking? Does anyone have any suggestions?
it doesn't work anymore with the new yahoo e-mail. If you want to use outlook for firebird with yahoo e-mail you have to have yahoo plus which costs 19.99 a year. you use to be able to use ypops but not anymore.
